With a typical dental implant, the surgeon creates a new tooth root. The root offers a strong, stable, and lasting foundation for biting and chewing. It also prevents bone resorption, which can make the area of the missing tooth look even bigger and cause the person’s face to appear collapsed in that area.

However, traditional dental implants may be problematic for patients who need extensive tooth replacement:

• They require many implants, which increases the time and cost involved.
• Some patients may require bone grafts before they can have dental implants. Again, this is an increase in time and cost.

The All-on-4 treatment concept is for patients who need this type of total tooth replacement for upper and / or lower teeth. It uses a similar dental implant technique but with a different approach.

Rather than using one implant for one tooth, the process uses four-to-five specially placed implants in the lower and / or upper jaw. These implants support an entire set of teeth, and they don’t require bone grafts to work correctly.
